PhD students

Dr George Metcalfe
PhD student from Wensleydale.

Joined the group in September 2017 as an MChem, continued in October 2018 as a PhD student; completed his PhD viva on June 30th 2022; using gas-phase White cell FTIR, gas-phase cavity-enhanced Raman spectroscopy and liquid phase Raman spectroscopy as analytical tools in the study of the metabolism of microbes and in biotechnology. Dr George Metcalfe has been awarded the departmental Turner Prize 2023, in recognition of his exceptional achievements over his PhD.
